Today the eighth graders received their desk privileges back in math teacher Kylee Armentas room. They have been standing to work for more than a month since some behavioral issues brought about this unique disciplinary measure. I made them all name tags to show ownership for something they had gained, Armenta said. Maybe in the future they wont take for granted what the school provides for them.

Regional Cross Country qualifiers invested in a little friend this past weekend when they attended the regional cross country meet in Lubbock. Freshman Ginna Miller and junior Jamey Germany bought a hermit crab. Hes cute, and he seems to like bananas, Cross Country Coach Kylee Armenta said.

Junior Chelsey Lamb practices her shooting form in preparation for the basketball clinic that is to be held in the big gym on Nov. 5. The Ettes will be running the fundamentals clinic for grades kindergarten through sixth.
It is especially important (to me) because we need to help input the idea of good basketball skills for the students at a young age, freshman Ginna Miller said. Admission is $15 per student and includes free entry at the Ettes home basketball game on Jan. 13.

Freshman Ginna Miller and Junior Jamey Germany will be headed to the Regional Cross Country Meet at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock on Oct. 29. These two Tigerettes earned their tickets to regionals after Miller placed eighth and Germany took the tenth-place qualifier spot today, Oct. 17, in the District 2 1A Meet held at the Country Club in Shamrock. Coach Kylee Armenta makes sure shes available to her students as she is to her athletes. Armenta, the new cross country and assistant girls basketball coach, also teaches math for grades six through 12th. During sixth-period, she can be found leading the fifth-grade physical education class. “I love it in Groom. The school spirit is great, and I feel like everyone has to work hard to make things flow, Armenta said. I don’t think you can be lazy and work in a small school.”
