The new gym is currently in progress. The gym is right on schedule and should be done before we know it. Its exciting seeing the new gym being built, Coach Si Exum said. I cant wait to see the finished product, the kids deserve it.

By the end of the day, Groom had received at least 2.1 inches of rain, according to Underground.coms weather page. Kicking the ball is so much fun. Treadwell said.

It is a character-builder and sparks interest in reading, secretary Frances Payton said of the program.

Junior Lauren Kuehler plays hands-up defense against the Hedley Owls on Friday, Jan. 13. Both Groom teams put up the winning points on the home-town scoreboard for these district matches. The varsity girls won 45-20. The boys won 60-30.

The Ettes warm up by running laps around the Lefors gym. The varsity girls traveled to play their district opener, winning 52-14. The game started off rough, but we came back much better in the second half, head coach Nicole Black said. Ultimately, we started off district with a win, which is what we needed.

The International bus, which has broken down numerous times this year, once again is in the shop. This time the school has it getting serviced in Lubbock. The last time it broke down was when the students took it to the New Home Basketball Tournament. It wasnt as scary as being on the side of the road in Silverton, but it was better than breaking down on the road, and standing in a field because the bus might get hit, Sophomore Sydney Ritter said.

Their teacher Dayna Britten took them to the teachers lounge for this Friday, Dec. 2, lesson. It was fun because we got to make cookies and eat them, Ritter said. And, the cookies were really delicious, but what the main reason we did it was to figure out how the smell was created. ... It was because of a chemical reaction.

Drowsy driving has led to 72,000 crashes, 44,000 injuries and 8,000 deaths in the past three years. During that same time period, drowsy driving has taken more lives than driving while intoxicated.
