Carson Ritter, Editor Emeritus

Carson Ritter is a senior at Groom ISD. He is an active member in extracurricular activities. He has participated in all Varsity sports for the past 4 years and was a member of the UIL team last year. Carson is very active in the FBC and other community organizations. This is Carson's third year in journalism. Carson is starting on both the football and basketball teams in Groom. Carson loves his job and enjoys the challenges of journalism and broadcast.

The Groom Ettes were presented the championship trophy after a big win against the Lazbuddie Lady Longhorns. This past weekend, the Ettes traveled two hours, there and back, there and back, there and back, for a total of twelve hours to play in the Adrian basketball tournament. I was excited because its been awhile since we have won a championship in a tournament, sophomore Madison Friemel said.

Heres an early look at how the yearbook is covering the school board in the 2016 edition of The Tiger. Elections held May 7 ensured that the following people will have a spot on the 2016-2017 school board: Cara Ashford, Adriana Fields, Ron Kuehler and Greg Lambert. They will join Brady Miller, Cecil Gwyn and Tony Rocha. Greg Hendricks no longer will serve on the board, as he was edged out for a position in Saturdays vote totals.

Carson County Sheriff Loren Brand makes himself available to Groom students for both serious as well as not-so-serious assignments, as Editor Carson Ritters column asserts. Here, Sheriff Brand assists the Groom High School Student Council and Groom EMS with putting on the Shattered Dreams program for junior high and high school students in the district in May of 2015. The program involved staging a mock wreck that involved serious injuries and even fatalities to show the dangers of drinking and driving. Senior actress Renee Payne, on the ground, played the part of a student who lost her life in this staged accident.

National FFA Week is taking the spotlight at Groom School Feb. 22-26. Students schoolwide are participating with the newly re-organized Groom chapter. On Tuesday, October 20, Ag students gathered in the FFA meeting hall to choose the first officers for the new chapter. More than a decade has passed since Groom School has maintained an FFA program for students. Freshman Halle Barkley was voted in as the vice president; Burger won Secretary; eighth-grader Ginna Miller was awarded treasurer; sophomore Chelsey Lamb was voted in as reporter, and freshman Corbin Ruthardt won the Sentinel title.

The non-district contest ended abruptly due to inclement weather, which included ongoing game-ending lightning. In this photo, the Tigers offense prepares to score.
