NFL Kickoff Preditions
Staff Writer Chris Nichols Explains His NFL Picks

Junior Staff Writer Chris Nichols explains his picks for the first few games of the NFL Season.
The NFL Regular Season Kickoff is Today.
There are some very interesting match ups this week and I’m curious to see how you predict things going for week 2 so don’t be afraid to leave a comment with your week 2 picks.
First off on Thursday night football, the Atlanta Falcons will head to Lincoln Financial Field to take on the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. I’m taking the Eagles because their defense is one of the best in the NFL, and defense is very important in today’s league. Almost all of the teams have high powered offenses. Carson Wentz isn’t back yet, but they have Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles to lead them to victory.
THE PICK – 21-17, Philadelphia
Chiefs vs Chargers. Patrick Mahomes from Texas Tech makes his debut with his first start. He has many good receivers like Tyreek Hill, which is one of the fastest people in the NFL. He also has Travis Kelce, who is in the top three tight ends in the NFL, and a good running game with Kareem Hunt. The defense looks really good. The Chiefs may run away with a win to start off the season, 35-21.
Cowboys vs Panthers. Ezekiel Elliott will have a good game, but will Dak? I’m not a Dak hater by any means, but there are three new receivers, and he lost his best two from last season. This game will be very close, especially with the Panthers front seven on defense, but Cowboys will pull through with an upset 27-17.
Bears vs Packers. For Prime-time Sunday night, Bears get Khalil Mack to help on defense, and the Packers get Aaron Rodgers back from injury. This is a big rivalry and all, but Khalil Mack won’t make a whole defense, especially with many big targets for the Packers offense. This one will be in favor of Packers winning 35-13.
Rams vs Raiders. Jon Gruden took over the Raiders over the off-season, but hasn’t coached in 10 years. He is going to be rusty no question, I think he will be a good coach three years from now but the Rams’s offense is stacked. Todd Gurley, the leading running back in fantasy picks and Jarred Golf, a talented young quarterback, are two big factors. Rams’s offense is a little young but very talented and explosive. On defense, they have the best defensive lineman in the league, Aaron Donald. This will be a good game to watch to see how Jon Gruden’s old ways will work in today’s league. However, this will be a win for the Rams 28-10.
