Vine was put on life support Oct. 27, and is predicted to go to social media heaven in the coming months. Vine was born in Florida, June, 2012, to Dom Hofmann, Rus Yusupov and Colin Kroll. Twitter, who was already a popular social networking site, adopted Vine in October 2012.

Vine became popular due to being adopted by Twitter in 2012. She officially launched on Jan. 24, 2013.

Through an introduction by Twitter, Vine met the world.  Twitter and Vine were faithful business partners for three years, until Vine’s coming death in 2016. Twitter’s bird never let go of it’s Vine keeping it safe and secure. In her retirement, Vine became heavily used for “good-bye-Vine” videos and is being mourned by users.

A life as rich as Vine’s cannot be summed-up in a simple obituary. She made a difference, and the joyful song of her life will reverberate in the lives of all who knew her and loved her. There were more than 200 million monthly active users on Vine.

Vine is survived by her parent company Twitter as well as competitor applications, Musical.ly, Instagram, Snapchat, YouNow, Facebook and YouTube.

There are more than one billion Vine loops played daily. Even in Vine’s final days, it is still used by faithful and active users. Even after Vine’s death, it can still be remembered through it’s descendant, YouTube-Vine compilations. Although this is not preferred, at least it is a way to remember her. Vine’s six-second videos will never be forgotten.
